In a shop, mechanics use a digital volt meter to check amp draw, but a test light will work. When using a test light, first disconnect the neg battery terminal and connect the test light between the loose termianl and battery. There will be a very minimal draw normally and the bulb in the light will be very dim. If there is a big draw, it will glow bright. To start, turn off the dome light and start to pull each fuse one at a time while observing the light. If you notice the light go dim all of a sudden, that is the affected circuit that is staying on. Use your owners manual to see all systems that are on the fuse. That will help narrow it down. em_ex_3 10-13-2005, 05:33 PM check the alternator... its prolly messed.. its job is to keep a batterys charge.. bkey71 10-13-2005, 06:15 PM The alternator could be a problem if it is not charging. I did not see that the first post mentioned the battery or charge light staying on. If it is charging ok, then there is a draw on the system. |
