Need help
I have a 1989 Mazda B2600 4x4 I just did the clutch, and when i was driving it the truck started jerking and concked out. This issue is driving me craze, I changed the fuel pump (big job) but it didn't work. with the old pump we got 30 psi with the new one we get 40 t0 45 psi ?? is that good ??
seems that the problem is fuel not getting in. I opened the fuelreturn hose and fuel goes through.Fuel filter is new.

do you mean that the fuel will not make it to the motor, but the pressure is still up? if so, i would check the regulator. i am guessing from the pressure and the year that it is TPI. if so, they may have slipped you the wrong part. one way to check the regulator is to pinch the return line at the tank, not at the motor, and try to fire it up. if it fires and runs, you need a new regulator.

Thanks for your relply, I did pinched the return hose , but i did it just by the motor.
Do you know how much fuel pressure should I have? the old pump read 20 PSI, the "new one reads between 40 and 45 Psi.
Onother thing the trucks starts but conks out right away. If I pump the gas pedal really fast the trucks try to stat and kind of back fires. I kind of believe is somthing simple but hard to find.

i will try pinching the hose by the fuel tank.

40 seems kind of high, but i have seen pressures that high before for TPI. for carbed, that would be ridiculously high, but TPI needs a more constant flow (more returns than is used). i would go to another auto parts store and cross check the part that they show you as opposed to the one that you already bought.
