View Full Version : and let the snow begin......
the_gray_mazda6 11-22-2005, 05:24 PM what would november/thanksgiving be without snow? yes yes, it is finally started to snow here in pittsburgh, PA. can't wait to go do donuts in parking lots, power slides, and of course what else would be better than slapping that good ol' plow on my dodge ram heh heh. let the good times roll and bring on the winter snow because snowboarding is right up my alley.:D
AlyssaC 11-24-2005, 06:28 AM Haha, I only like the 1st snowfall of the season, then I absolutely hate it. How much snow did you get out there? We're at about 1/4" and it's still snowing. Been snowing here since midnight. It's now 4:30am.
bkey71 11-24-2005, 06:01 PM What is snow?? It's 85 degrees down here!

the_gray_mazda6 11-25-2005, 01:42 AM only got a measly 2 inches, but thats fine with me. gotta break the car in slowly, then order those winter tires heh heh.
AlyssaC 11-25-2005, 06:52 AM bkey, you're so lucky! The snow was all melted away by 11am here. Ah well. But it is now 16 degrees outside, with a -5 wind chill. COLD!
bkey71 11-26-2005, 12:58 AM YUCK!! You can keep those temps up your way! I think it will be about 60 degrees overnight here.
AlyssaC 11-26-2005, 01:00 AM How about we trade bkey?!
the_gray_mazda6 11-26-2005, 01:02 AM i would like to live down in texas for a summer, that could be cool. just as long as i get to come back north to do the whole snowboarding gig. nothing better than having ski patrol chase me down because i am flying around turns and down hills way too fast.
AlyssaC 11-26-2005, 01:03 AM Haha. I want to move to Texas...permanently. U could just fly up north for the winter?

Heheh .... we got 3 inches here also and those Nokians are living up well , now I can't wait to go play Hockey on the ice rink and initiate my son to skates [sm=shades.gif]
bkey71 11-27-2005, 02:11 AM As said on The Price is Right "Come on down!". I could not handle that crazy cold up north. Summer does get about 100-105 degrees in late July and August. But not everyday though. If you like snow, drive to New Mexico to the mountains. I live about 20 miles from San Antonio which is nice. It can hit around 35 degrees in the dead of winter here with a freeze here and there. IF we do manage to get some snow, maybe an inch or two, it's a major media event!
AlyssaC 11-27-2005, 09:37 PM Well, it is supposed to warm up over the next couple of days here. 60 degrees, but raining. Then back to the cold again. Did any of you see The Day After Tomorrow? Putting any slight connections through with this weather?!
AlyssaC 12-09-2005, 06:53 AM Here we go again! Allentown is getting 8" of snow...I'm supposed to get hit with 5-7"!!!! Yikes! I was just out driving in it though...the 6 handles beautifully in the snow!
Patrick 12-09-2005, 04:26 PM we got 6.3" (or so) last night...:)
the_gray_mazda6 12-12-2005, 11:09 PM hey alyssa..... are you driving around in the factory tires that came with your vehicle? I am and they are pretty decent in the snow. I have no complaints when driving in 3+ inches of snow and have had plenty of control on the road. Still think i'm gonna buy snow tires next winter though, just to say I have them haha.
6Pack 12-13-2005, 03:10 AM wait till the temp. starts really droppin' and that gum will stop stickin' .. so watch that newly found confidence of yours closely
the_gray_mazda6 12-13-2005, 04:50 PM heh heh, oh i am. I just wish i had the money for those tires right now. I'm not worrying too much right now because if i see there is alot of snow, i'll just drive my dodge ram (it has a snow plow as well). lucky me;)

Yes I am still running through the factory tires. They're Michelin MXV4+ A/S. If those are what they came with from factory. I bought my car used...so who knows if they swapped out the tires for new ones at the dealership before I bought it.

You better watch out....some of us are on here watching......;) Crystal Mtn, MI.......It's OK though, we usually pick up the one's going too fast at the bottom of the hill in a pile.....Ski Patrol to base, I need full c-spine immobilization equipment and transport, please notify ALS....(Volunteer on the weekends up here in Michigan.)

Thosae were the ones that came on the GT / S (v6 full load versions ) http://www.michelinman.ca/catalog/tires/MichelinPilotMXM4.html?tiretype=2&tire=2
Think the ones you're talking about are these , Alyssa http://www.michelinman.ca/catalog/tires/MichelinEnergyMXV4Plus.html?tiretype=2&tire=4
They are a 1 mark under my O.E. Pilots for winter rating (mine 8 / yours 7) but remember that at - 15 deg. Celcius (in Ferenheit ???) they stop completely sticking !!!
Careful guys , 'cause it hurts when your brand new baby isn't anymore ! Wish you the best !
6Pack 12-16-2005, 03:17 PM OH YA BABY !!! the mother storm has reached us today . Been a while I haven't seen snow all the way up to mid windows on the car . Glad I ain't working today , guess I'll have to Christmas shop tomorrow .
We recieved so far since this AM a total of 35 cm .... we're accumulating 5 cm an hour according to D.O.T. and expected to snow at 100% this PM and later tonight at 70% stopping around midnight .
Interesting and most funny anecdote .... I just spoke to my girl who mentioned seeing people on the highway stopped on the curb 'cause the DOT plow just passed and blocked their exit ......... so they all pitched in at shoveling the exit !!! [:-] lol Hope I see this on the news .
The weather network says the record of 1969 with 58 cm (and 3 deaths) is not broken yet but fact important noting is that storm back then hit Montreal over a period of 2 days ...... today so far , it has swept us in about 10 hours only !!! You should see the Radar how dark it shows this blizzard concentration on the TV screen from the weather channel .
Patrick 12-16-2005, 04:10 PM a guy on my mustang forum said that he got hammered last night..but im not sure where in Canada he is from...
jlcsmx 12-16-2005, 07:48 PM I'd be saying the same as bkey.. what is snow? lol
summer has definately started here... still getting a few storms here and there.. but mostly sunny and hot atm... I love summer!;)

These are the ones that are on my car. The ones I already posted.
Patrick 12-22-2005, 02:43 PM my car has been bundled up in her cover since november...:)
Patrick 01-05-2006, 02:58 PM sorry for the double post, but after a week and a half of spring-like weather..it is once again snowing here...:)
the_gray_mazda6 01-05-2006, 04:15 PM this weather is disappointing in pennsylvania. all i want to do is snowboard over break at local ski resorts and so far, the slopes have been groomed granular / have thin spots with wet slush. i should be used to this now, because that is two years in a row this has happened. and when the snow comes down nicely, i have work/studies haha. just my good ol' luck[:-]
AlyssaC 01-10-2006, 01:04 AM It was 62 degrees here today! BEAUTIFUL! I hate cold weather...so I was enjoying every minute of it!
chefmaster25 01-10-2006, 02:09 AM yeah i live in MD was defiantly 60 today it was great too bad i worked all day and missed it :( would of loved to have washed my car today
babyhuey 01-10-2006, 06:27 PM We do not get a lot snow in our area. Maybe an inch or two at most but is usually gone the next day. We do however get the rain. On the Friday and Saturday before the new year we were hammered with a rainstorm that dropped almost 7 inches in 30 hours. Took some pics of the road to my house and how fun it was to a get home that afternoon. Had to wade thru most of it and was over 3 feet deep in the middle of what was the road.
