K&N air intake system is one good brand. i've seen several cars have it. if you have some replacement jobs, i know a place, innerauto. they have Mazda parts (http://www.innerauto.com/Mazda_Parts/) 50% less the original market price.

Umnitza gives you 2 less whp but nothing noticable when compared to AEM and K&N. However, I have heard from the position of AEM, when it rains the water gets in the filter and sort of clogs it.

HERE IS A VIDEO OF UMNITZA COMPARED TO STOCK. (http://www.umnitza.com/rx8intake.avi)

Mazda provides a great cold air intake. From manufacturer at http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/speedDisplayAccessoryDetail.action?endModelYear=20 06&speedAccessoryId=219&carLineCode=RX8&startModel Year=2004&categoryId=3

I just purchashed and AEM and was installing it last night. I ran out of light so I couldn't finish. Did you guys have to take your front bumper off to install the hole system or can you take the skid plate off and do it that way?

Everything comes off. I just installed the AEM several weeks ago with the help of a friend. Overall length of the job took just over 4 hours + 12 pack. However, once installed the difference was very noticeable both in sound and performance especially at the higher RPMrange. Haven't used it in the rain yet, so thats still a big question mark.

Do you think if i just take the skid plate offthat i can reach up in there to fasten the tube or not? I just don't really want to take apart my bumper. My next project is putting coil overs on it and I am going to upgrade the brakes and rotors

well i ended up taking the bumper off and all that...it wasn't that hard at all...total install time was 2 hours...what a differance that made in the car

actually that makes me nervous. Its the first project between working on cars and bikes that i have not had one screw or bolt leftover.
