Ok first of all im new to these forums so i figured what the hell and give it a shot and get a few opinions and what not. ne who with that outta the way heres my problem

I have a 1988 MX-6 non turbo with a high idle problem. when you first turn on the vehicle. it idles at 2000 RPM, raises to 3000 RPM and drops back down. it will do this for a good 20 minutes. even after the vehicle is warmed up it will still do this. not as bad, it will go from 1000 RPM to 2000 RPM and drop. i noticed that there was a loud sucking noise coming out of my cone air filter. I pulled that off and plugged up the IAC. the RPMS dropped to normal ranges 1500 cold about 1000 after a few minutes. there was a huge suction on my had, greater than i would have expected. once i did this i noticed that the air passage from the IAC to the intake manifold had collapsed. Any Ideas on what i should be looking for next? I would prefer a nice cheap fix because the vehicle has very high mileage, 308 thousand to be exact; and i need it to run temporarly.

The passage in the manifold has collapsed?? It is aluminum housing isn't it? Sounds like you IAC valve is stuck open anyway.

It seems to me that people are unaware of grounding the TEN terminal before adjusting idle speed. If not grounded, the PCM will adjust IAC valve.
