I looked around in this forum for info about this but didn't find a lot.

I'm planning to buy an exhaust and air filter. I saw the K&N that is sort of a short ram kind of intake. Also was considering Borla. Also checked the Tanabe, one that says is under 92 db. Any of you with any experience with this mods. I would love to keep the car as quiet as posible.

Thanks for any help.

Does anyone has info or pics about this mods?

What about the Mazdaspeed exhaust?

Is there any other additional site related to RX8'S with more volume of threads and participation?

Thanks again.

WOW, I can't believe no one has posted anything for such a common mod. I like the mazdaspeed exhaust. Its tone compliments the rotary engine. I have not changed my intake but here is a video (not my car) of a very nice sounding intake, Umnitza, which gives 8 whp. That is 2 less than the K&N but you should go with sound since you won't notice a big power difference between most aftermarket intakes.

i autocross with this guy who drives a blue rx-8. he has a drop in k&n filter and just recently within the passed two weeks he installed the Mazdaspeed exhaust. it sounds great...its not too loud at all while inside the cabin...and it gave him great throttle response and a good amount of extra pep. he should have gone with the AEM cold air intake though, and im most definitely going to attempt to get him to purchase it. he said he barely noticed a thing from the k&n drop-in filter---no improvement on gas milage, there was a change in engine sound (growl), and a minimal increase in throttle response.

um.. K&N filter or intake? You wouldn't notice any power difference just by replacing a filter, but I assume you mean intake. K&N claims 10RWHP increase, AEM claims 8.4. Again, not a big difference. Just watch online videos and decide by sound, unless you are racing for money of something. Then every HP makes a difference on a track with enough laps. Also, I heard from the position of the AEM intake, if it is raining hard, the water sort of clogs the intake. I have heard of people selling their AEM and getting one that mounts at stock position.

I rodealongside a Mazdaspeed Rx-8 (mazdaspeed exhaust package and springs and a couple dressup parts) and the exhaust note was designed to match a s tock Rx-8 until open throttle then it does a Ferreri type of roar withh a little raspyness in it. (A Ferrari lke raspyness not a civic type raspyness, I've you've heard a ferrari startup you know what I'm talking about.)

K&N drop in filter = 4 hp K&N intake = 10 hp. That's why they noticed better throttle response but no other gains.

he just has the drop-in filter. on my 3s the aem cai system has the cone mounted in almost the same position as stock...its just pushed out to the side of the car more towards the wheel well.
