MAZDASERVICE 04-14-2005, 04:59 PM AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE ARE NOT ANY AVAILABLE-I WOULDN'T DO THIS IS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY Toyia 04-15-2005, 12:49 AM I need a recommendation. What is the best way to sell my current RX7? Do the online (.coms) work, or is a local ad better? 15 years ago, we had a local car magazine...my car sold the same day the magazine came out. But it is no longer published & I don't know whether to bother with the on-line sites. Please advise Lupae3s 04-17-2005, 12:36 AM check out the Motech M-80. kcried 04-18-2005, 01:23 AM Well when i was selling my truck i did autotrader.com and they have a deal where they post it on the site plus in there news ads. I got a couple calls on the truck, but got impatient and just traded it in. sajack 05-21-2005, 11:22 AM ...so you can drive 120mph+ on public roads = not a very good idea jdcarl 07-21-2005, 05:55 AM I too would suggest AutoTrader.com. I sold my old Honda there within a week. zoom 06-25-2008, 02:55 PM I called Motec Technical Support. They indeed confirmed that their ECU would work with Mazda 3 and would by default remove the speed governor. There is one essential problem, though. The rep. said that the most cost efficient option to put in the ECU (including rewiring the car) would run at about $8,000. I guess the only option for me is to wait until some other tuning company comes up with a more affordable ECU, perhaps tailored for Mazda 3. M3 For Second Time 06-25-2008, 08:02 PM not worth it.. 118 is fast enough for this car. i got pulled of by state police doing 108 on my way to work and that was not fun. these cars are fun to drive but there is no need to go above 118mph. I'll feel better going faster in a Vette or some other car that was made for those kinds of speeds. virgin1 06-25-2008, 08:21 PM I absolutely agree. There is a limit to everything and unless you have to good fortune to take your car to the Autobahn, or Auto-Strata where the limit is limitless, you have no business driving even that fast on the streets. zoom 06-26-2008, 03:11 AM 118 is fast enough for the US. Indeed when I was driving my car there, I never approached this limit and was not even aware it exists. Generally, if you go above 100 MPH in the States, you lose your license. Well, I (and my car) are now in Europe. So for example when I travel to Germany, believe me that 118 MPH on an Autobahn is oftentimes a drag. I guess the worse is the psychological thing that in case you sometimes need more, you are stuck at 118 MPH. zoom 2.0Mazda08 06-26-2008, 05:28 PM i reached 121 on my car a while back but even 100 is more than enough....loosing your license, your car, and possibly dying at that speed....just isn't worth it.... a long with all the other people that your risking on a public road. I thought about the governer thing too but why?...no reason to. zoom 06-26-2008, 06:41 PM I did not intend to be discussing philosophical reasoning beyond removing the governor but since the topic was brought up more than once here now... Fact of the matter is that in countries like Germany (which I am not from) driving 100 and more MPH on the highway is not unusual and is legal. Some drive way, way faster. And if you read the statistics, less people die from accidents proportionally to population/car owners than in the US. Not sure if it has to do with poor design of highways in the US, really bad driving abilities and driving habits there, unfortunate automatic transmission that prevails in that country. Bottom line is that one can prove you wrong in believing that 100 MPH is bad and your 55 or 65 MPH is good. All I am trying to find out is whether anybody was successful in removing the speed governor in Mazda 3. zoom 2.0Mazda08 06-26-2008, 07:28 PM no, no one has been successful in doing it....maybe if you get a standalone ECU then you can get rid of it and also tune the engine. There is a sponsor that re-flashes ECU's for the 2.0 and 2.3L engines but you would have to take your ECU out and ship it to him which is risky IMO and its a set tune so you can't re-tune it if you wanted. So driving at high speeds is alot safer over there. Also a good bit of Gerrmany has gone to posted speed limits due to population growth so even over there they are seeing 100mph speeds aren't the best idea when it comes to safety. Also note a majorith of the world lives with posted speed limits under 100mph so it's not just a US thing. My intent on posting was to hopefully deter future 3 owners from going an excessive speed and harming themselves or others. Good luck in finding what your looking for. zoom 06-26-2008, 09:18 PM Thank you for the suggestion. Would you be able to share the name of the company retuning the Mazda 3 ECU? I found Upsolute and Rocketchip but neither lists 2.3L Mazda 3 among the cars they retune. zoom 2.0Mazda08 06-27-2008, 02:27 AM it was someone on mazda3forums..com check there i deleted his messages from my inbox i guess since i can't see them there anymore. They are in orlando fl from what i remeber and costs about 500. 1funride 06-27-2008, 03:14 PM ORIGINAL: importek_ILLKID i need to get an ECU for my 3. it sucks to have a governor. anyone know of any source for me to get one? i wanna kick out that regulator so i can actually reach top speed. Personally, the only reeason I could see the need to get rid of the governor is only if you are competing on a closed track. Otherwise a usless mod IMHO... virgin1 06-27-2008, 04:03 PM ORIGINAL: Operator You stated it right there. the roads in Germany were built from scratch better than US roads, and they are also kept up in better condition. WOW!!!ILOVE the new sig pic, David!! Very nice. You also have to consider that in Germany they don't just hand out driver's licenses like we do here either. I can't quote it, but about 6 yrs ago R&T magazine did an article on what it takes to get a German drivers license, and it ain't easy, and it certainly ain't cheap. It's expensive and time consuming, so you have to be serious about getting one in the first place. They are better driver's... more attentive and aware than the cell phone talker/texters and stereo blasters that we put up with here. I don't know what I would've done had it cost me $3000 (what I remember them saying it costin Germany)when I was 16 just to getmy driver's license, but I think it's time we look real hard at the licensing process here in this country. I have always taken awareness in driving very seriously. 2.0Mazda08 06-27-2008, 07:57 PM preech on virgin!;) Operator 06-30-2008, 08:16 PM ORIGINAL: virgin1 ORIGINAL: Operator You stated it right there. the roads in Germany were built from scratch better than US roads, and they are also kept up in better condition. Considering that the hardest part of the driving test for most folks in the US is Parallel Parking, I am surprised that our streets aren't awash in blood. However, I will point out that the US has a lot of Wide Open rural interstates where there ain't much to hit, and perfect for winding it out. Just look around for the cops, first. Actually, I didn't lose any points during my test for parking...I lost points for 'over-aggressive acceleration and cornering.' Go figure. :D speed3guy69 07-08-2008, 01:28 AM I realize that I'm a little off base here as you are all talking about speeding, and the removal of the speedregulator for the mazda 3. However, this made me think of a photo I snapped the other day... I have a speed3, and did not realize that my Garmin navigation unitkept track of my top speed. It topped me out at 129MPH, I clearly remember slowing down at 130...anyway, there is never any reason to go this fast... Sorry, I realize I'm a little off topic here, but I thought what better time to share... And yes that was the one and only time I have ever had the speed3 that fast...seriously...It was a controlled environment... Anyway...back to the talk of responsibility and safe driving practices... |
