I would like to replace my CD player that came with my Protege, because is failing as doesn't recognize the track, or play some CD others no, or I can change tracks and so forth.

I'm looking for a third party Systems such as Pioneer, or Kennwood, or Alpine, but I do not know which one are compatible with my car. Do you have any idea or at least can give some orientation. Thanks!

hey dude, with your stockcar stereo (cd player) does it come with a tape deck as well??

if it does, chances are you will have to remove both tape and cd decks because one will not run without the other(its a security measure). you also said it wasn't reading the cd, this might be because ofdirty runners/laser inside the player- i know you can get tape deck cleaner, but not sure about cd deckcleaner

as for you choice in cd third party systems...those 3should be all compatible, and all three aretop of the range brands.(any auto-electrictian/stereo installerwill be able to help if still unsure)

hope this helped, sorry for the long post...good luck, let us know how it turned out k

laters,

i have a 2002 protege 5 stock stereo with cd .. no tape player for sale.. it's a double din.. lemmie know if ya wanna buy it..

if you have the wide format stock stereo.. it's a double din.. or 1.5 din.. they have black face covers you can use to cover up the extra space.. most third party stereos out there are single din... such as alpine, kenwood, sony, etc..

i have the alpine 9815... it's a mp3/cd/am/fm stereo.. kicks a.ss.. if you're into mp3s.. definately worth it..

good luck
