i recently broke the timing belt will I have to remove the head for valve replacemnt, is this a clearance valve engine? thanks

All mazda engines with timing belts are clearance or free spinning, unless you were cranking 9grand when it broke.
When you replace the timing belt be sure to inspect the crankshaft gear, key & shaft for wear.
