Default Problems with my Mx3

My car will start cold no problem, but will idel high around 2,000 to 2,500. After running for a while, whenever i shift into nuteral to brake, the engine dies and i have to hold down thegas to get it running again, and it takes a good while to do so. I replaced the spark plugs, the wires, the rotar, the distributer and the fuel pump. Does any one know what might be wrong?

Also, whenI goover 10mph and shift into 2nd, the gear grinds, and no other gear does that. When parked, or going under 10mph, it shifts smoothly. Any suggestions?

What year is the MX-3 and does it have the 4 cyl or V6?
Is it only idling at 200-2500 after cold start and then once it is warmed up will not idle at all?

It's defenetly either a vaccume leak but it can easily be a compression problem, if you have a mechanic friend get him or her to check the compression for you. It's pretty inexpensive if you take it to a garage but watch out of people trying to rip you off. GOOD LUCK!
