Default engine swap

I have a 2003 mazda 6 that threw a rod out the side of the motor. It has a 2.3L and I want to know if a 2005 2.3L out of the same model carwill fit? If not does anyone know where i can find a used engine to fit ? It seems this is a hard motor to find used. Thanks

Any 2.3L from a Mazda6 should work just fine.

It is had to find used replacement parts for aany mazda6 no matter what year. I have been looking since I got my car a year ago a 2004 6s, to find a set of used bose speakers and the six disc changer to put in my car and had absolutely no luck.

pre 06 should be all you have to worry about. if you want a build block, i have someone that can help you out. if you just need the blcok, then ww.car-parts.com is a lifesaverr usually. might save a bit just getting a shortblock rather than the long block if you have a good installer.

I think he said he was doing all the labor himself. How many miles did your engine have on it?

The car has only 102,000 miles .Lucky me just 2,000 out of the extended warranty. It's actually my daughters car and she just had a vacum leak fixed and a fresh oil change done 9 days prior to the blowout.

I am a carpenter, but in my younger days I was a pretty decent shade tree mechanic.I've swap out a Nissan Altima motor last year, thatwas my daughter's car until it was totaled hitting a tree that was apparently crossing the road .So this one shouldn't be to tuff especially considering the money that can be saved.

and you can grab the bottom end from a ford focus if you want also. i ended up using a focus bottom rather than building my own as it was a cheaper option. bit more easy to get a hold of too.

I,m still having doubts as to which motor will fit.The one I was considering was out of a 05 they claim it will not work if I have a "c" in my VIN # which I have .Should I be concerned with this or is this just something that is a trivial difference?I know I'm probably beating this to death ,but Idon't want to spend $1500 and it not fit.

i can't say for sure, so i'd stay away from the '05 to be safe if that's what they say. a guy swapped out his '05 mazda3 block with an '04....so not sure how that would work and yours wouldn't? but why risk it? there's gotta be some other options out there for you. my '03 was swapped out for an 03' focus bottom end....bolted to my head no problem.
