Is this something that I can do myself with basic car knowledge? Or am I going to be taking apart half of the car in order to replace the vacum hoses? How much would a dealer/mechanic charge for this?

Thanks, will give this a go tonight.

Twice in the last year, the gas guage would just drop the empty and stay that way for the drive. It would reset itself.

This definitly sounds like something I will not be able to do. Do you know what a fair price would be for a mechanic to do this? The reason I ask is because as much as I love this car, it might be time to put it out to pasture. It has 130k miles and has been into 2 nasty accidents (neither my fault, but not worth spending the 3-5k in body work to get it repaired...so I'm driving with my passengers side all crumpled up.

The reason I need to figure this all out is because my inspection sticker expires in November and it obviously wont pass with a CEL. However, I was really hopign to get her up to 150k miles before saying goodbye.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

a competent mechanic(and i have yet to meet one that knows anything about this car-and that includes the dealer) would charge several hours labor alone. check around on what hourly labor rates are. just to change 2 tees cost me 564 parts and labor about 6 years ago at the dealer. parts were about 6 bucks, the rest was labor. that was the last time i took the car anywhere. after that, i learned how to fix it.
