Default Are these faults unique to my Mazda5?

I really like my Mazda - 2.0 diesel sport 06 plate but I need to change it as it has now done 52K. I was going to get another one but I have had a lot of problems with it and wondered if I just had a bad one or if these faults are common.
1. hooting noise when reversing (already seen this mentioned on other posts - only person to mention this in UK I was told by Mazda dealer!)
2. At 70mph in 6th gear and at 3000 revs car would feel as if it was about to stall - end up driving in 4th to keep revs high
3. If driving for over an hour on motorways I loose power until I can reach 80mph then the car drives likes something from F1
4. If approaching a junction and slowing down to check that it is clear to pull out the car is reluctant to pull out in any gear other than 1st even though still moving
5. When it is cold the front suspension makes dreadful grinding noises when going over any bumps in the road

Would really like to know how common these faults are and if they are still common in 09 Mazda 5s

Items 2,3 and 4 are probably related and we had very similar which turned out to be a turbo fault. It's a known fault and the turbo was replaced under warranty. As far as I know it doesn't effect new cars as the turbos have been modified. Ours is an 08 2.0TD Sport and we don't have any other problems at 23000 miles.

Thanks Nick, that's really reassuring. I'm going to test drive a 09 tomorrow and don't want a repeat of these problems

Bluey,
I have been searching the site for similar problems, we have had two boost sensors go now on our 58 plate, very dangerous at 75 on the M6, not sure yet whether it is a known problem, but we will be looking to get rid of the 5, a shame as it is a nice car but we cannot keep taking the risk with this fault, we may not be lucky next time.
regards
Dave.

I had your faults 1 + 5. Number 1 was fixed under warranty but only after I approached another dealer, as the dealer I bought the car from said I was imagining it! It was a power steering pipe oscillating and a different length of pipe solved that.

The suspension noise when cold though, I hit a wall with that one. It still does it, even though I have shown my car the nice letter from Mazda UK telling me that my car had the modification to the suspension carried out BEFORE I took delivery. The car doesn't believe the letter, it just creaks and groans !!

Thankfully not experienced your other problems. As my warranty has just expired I hope I never do.

I have none of those problems, although I hear the suspension issue can be fixed with a couple welds... apparantly there is a TSB on that one.

I now have a 09 Sport and although I've only done a few hundred miles in it so far I haven't experienced any of the problems of my last one. I have also bought from a different dealer and I hope that this one will be more attentive to any problems raised
