Default No Heat

I just had a loss of heat today on my 98 Mazda Millenia. Worked fine at startup and I turned it down. I tried to turn it back up and now no heat at all. Air and fan work but no heat. I have no Idea what it is. I jhave loked in the owners manual and there is no troubleshooting section on this.

Anyone have any ideas.

I also have a problem with the tilt steering wheel. It works intermittently and at times gets stuck in the wrong position. The manual adjust switch works intermittently. I have taken to leaving it in one position and not using the adjust. Sounds like a switch. It this a owner or dealer fizable problem.

Thanks,

Mike

Default RE: No Heat

heat loss probably has to do with a heater coil or one of the lines. fairly simple fix but most people won't tell you how to do it. "climate control is left to the professionals"

as far as the tilt problem goes, yes it is fixable. these parts ware out over time especially if you use them every time you get in the car. they either seize up like yours did or they strip out which is a lot more of a pain in the ass. it's all fixable.

I had the problem with my 2000 millenia. Download the manual for a 96 model at "http://rapidshare.com/files/51248650/Millenia-1996.rar". On pages U22-U25 it will explain how to reset your c/c system. If that don't work try disconnecting the negative cable on your battery while the car is running for 2 or 3 minutes. Doing this resets alot of computers back to default. Good Luck!

I have a 98 Millenia and every winter I have no heat. I have ac great all summer and when I switch it back to heat during the weather change the heat does not work. I have found that the door does not shut to allow the hot air to circulate into the cab due to lint obstructing the arm from moving. I found that the arm frees easily with a squirt of wd-40...has worked everytime for me and saved me the cost of taking it into the shop for a mechanic to repair.

the same thing happened to me last winter,
turned out the coolant level was low, because we had a crack in a radiator hose.
before we found out about the crack, we just added some coolant and it worked fine no problem
