Default 2005 mazda 6i tranny jumps from 1-2

Hello, new to this forum and hoping I can get some insight.

I bought my 2005 mazda 6i (4 cyl auto) a few weeks ago with 53k on it. Just recently I noticed that when it's shifting from 1-2 there is a very noticeable jump that I feel. However this only happens when I'm accelerating slowly, like during stop and go traffic. During more "spirited" acceleration the 1-2 shift is very smooth like all the others. It also happens occasionally when I drive in "manual" mode.

I've heard that these trannies might have something called a "shift shock" problem that requires reprogramming. Does this sound like the issue? Or do I have a more serious problem here? I'd like to bring it to the dealership before my purchase warranty expires but I'd like to know what I'm talking about when I'm there so they don't try to screw me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love my new 6 and want to keep it!

Default update...

I went to Mazda. There were no error or failure codes for the tranny, they advised the tranny fluid was a little discolored, so they flushed it and added some kind of detergent to the new fluid to clean out any gunk that might be in there. After I told them I was concerned that the tranny needed a software update they checked for me, and told me that both the tranny and entire powertrain needed an update. So they ran them both. I've been driving 3 days since and so far so good! I don't experience that sudden kick from 1-2 anymore. Thank goodness! And they didn't charge me!
