Default how to disable airbags?

While rebuilding my engine I removed my airbag crash sensors and wiring harness from the engine bay to clean up the look and so that if I made a careless error racing later on I wouldn't destroy my interior...

My problem now is that I can't get the engine to start. I have spark, but is there a cut-off between the airbag module and the ignition's distributor/timing?

Any help on approaching this would be appreciated.
