Mine did that too. I'm not sure why either. The salesman set my "home" point when I took delivery by typing in the street address. I think though that it is a two step process, you have to "register" that memory point as your home.
I got out the NAV manual, and went and deleted that memory point. I then went back in and added a point (while sitting in my driveway). There was a separate step to "register" it as home. I can't tell you how to do it without looking at the book but it is discussed. Once I did that, voila it shows as a house icon again.
One thing to consider-- before setting that as the "home" location, you can move that point manually on the map. I moved it up to the corner of the cross streets up the road a block or so. Call me paranoid but I figure if the car got stolen someday (or sold/traded and I forgot to delete the point) I wouldn't want someone to be able to easily find out where my "home" was. I figured a block away was close enough.
