Hi folks,
I`m new to this forum. Hope you can help me out. My 2002 Tribute V6 3 litre had a low idle. I replaced the gas filter and new plugs about a week ago. It worked great up until today. It is doing it again and the engine light is on and off and blinking intermittently. What could possibly be the problem? By the way....it rained all night previously. Don`t know if that helps.

 

what code is CEL giving yiu. You can get the codes identified with reader at auto parts store. Any specifics when the prob started the first time? Check gas filter again for more debris , maybe things , other than gas got pulled from gas tank. That's a guess since you don't know what code the engine is throwing. Need more info.

Thank you for the quick response. I`m not sure what the code is. I am planning on getting that checked tomorrow. I have put fuel injector cleaner in the last 3 fill ups. I did take out the air filter and it was VERY dirty! This was the first time the engine light came on.

 

Sory bout that, it is doing the same thing it did the first time. Rough idle when parked. Once the clutch kicks in, the idle bottoms out. When the plugs were changed they were dirty. From the looks of the plugs, the mechanic told me the engine was running good. Not much carbon deposits on the plugs. The gas filter was dirty. After this was all replaced, the truck ran great until today, after the rain storm.

 

4th cylinder wasn`t firing. I replaced the coil pack as my plugs were already changed. Purrs like a kitten! Glad it wasn`t the cylinders in behind! Quick and easy......like me.......Heheh! Thanx for your reply.
