Default 2003 MPV keyless remote

I recently purchased a used 2003 MPV and did not receive a keyless remote. The dealer now wants to charge me $120.00 for one. (They claimed the last owner did not turn one in). Is there anywhere I can get one that is less expensive. Since I don't have a remote to compare it to, how will I know I'm purchasing the correct one? My van has 2 power sliding doors, so I want to make sure I'm able to open those doors with the remote. Are they hard to program and if I have problemsprogramming it, will there be any support to help?

Couple of options you can do finegold. There a couple of used ones on sale at ebay motors. Just use keyword "mazda mpv keyless" and they should come up.
FCC ID is OUCG8D333AA
The other option is to purchase new at www.onlinemazdaparts.com . Use the 'Search by Factory Part Number' box and enter OE part #LD52-67-5RY. They are selling for $71.25.
Programming yourself is very easy to do.
#1 Start with key out of ignition and all doors and liftgate closed.
#2 Open drivers side door.
#3 Insert key into ignition and turn key from 'LOCK' to "RUN" position three times then remove the key
from ignition switch. (RUN is when the dash warning lights come on and just before cranking engine)
#4 Now close and then open the drivers door three times ending with door open.
#5 At this point the doors should lock and then unlock by themselves indicating that you are in keyless
programming mode. If they do not then start over at #1.
#6 Press any button on the remote two times. Doors should again lock and unlock by themselves letting
you know that the transmitter was accepted.
#7If you have two or three remotes then just repeat step #6 with remaining remotes. If not then program
single remote three times The reason for this is that there are three "slots" in the keyless control unit for
remote codes and if all three are not filled it can create some problems later on. When all three "slots"
are full the locks will again lock and unlock ending the programming and you are done.

Thanks Babyhuey. I'll take a look at those remote choices. Let me make sure I understand. If I only buy 2 remotes then I'll need to program one of them twice and the other once to account for the three slots? Are used remotes usually ok to purchase?

You have the idea of the three 'slots' down exactly. Used remotes are simply a matter of taking the chance. Have never purchased any myself but have seen posts of some that have with mixed results. If seller is making a guarantee then all the better.

Default Help!! 2004 Mazda 6 remote programming

Wow... It sounds like you know a lot about programming Mazda remotes. I just got two new ones and I really don't want to go to the dealer to have them drink money from my pockets. Can you help me with the programming?

I have a 2004 Mazda 6 S 5-door.

Remote info is:Model 41805, FCC ID: KPU41805, Canada: 4238A 12076

Please let me know what you can do.

The remote programming procedure for the Mazda 6 is identical with one exception. In step #3 when you cycle the key three times from lock to run positions and then remove the key. On the Mazda 6 you just do not remove the key. Three times from lock to run and then leave the key in the ignition switch at the lock position. Otherwise everything is the same. Try that and see how it works for you.

Default Amazingly simple way to install control

I bought my Mazda MPV new in 2004. A few years later I saw a replacement controller on eBay and bought it for less than $10 on eBay. I took it to my local mechanic to see if he could easily program it, he said I would have to take it to the dealer.

I took it to the dealer and he quoted me a HIGH price to reprogram it, so I decided not to mess with it.

Recently, I lost one of the two controllers that came with the unit. I searched for a way to program the one that had been sitting around for years and found this "fix."

AMAZING! It took less than a minute to go through the steps you gave, and it worked PERFECTLY. My wife and I now both have controllers again.

BTW, my Mazda now has 130k on it and acts like I will be able to double that mileage.

wow, if we dont have to reprogram the immobilizer system, we dont charge anything to reprogram remotes. You should not have to pay for anyone to program a remote (if its just a remote, not a switchblade key)
Babyhuey's instructions are 100% correct, thanks for posting them!

Default Problem solved

Yes, the reprogramming was only the keyless remote, pretty simple if you know what to do. Only took a few minutes using these instructions. Really a great help!
