2013 Mazda 3 RPM issue... "Rev Hang?"
Hey all,
I just got a 2013 Mazda 3 with the 2.0 SkyActiv G engine and a six speed auto trans. It currently has 500 miles on it. I have had it for two weeks.
Everything was going fine until today. I was driving it like normal and noticed that when I go down hills (not too steep), the car seems to rev itself up to between 2.5 to 3 rpms, regardless of the fact that I am pressing the brake. I know it is normal for the RPM's to increase a little when you go down hill, but it seems to be a little much. I seem to have isolated the issue to: I am going down hill > depress brake at about 35 mph (car is in 3rd gear from what I can tell)> rpms jump to about 2500 rpms and does not calm down until I significantly slow down.
Also from a dead stop, it seems to "buck" a little bit when it starts to get going.
I saw something on these forums called "Rev Hang." Could that be it, and how do you fix it?
Is it a fluke occurrence that I shouldn't worry about (it's been happening all day)?
Is it trying to adjust to my driving style and will it fix itself?
Would it do any good to disconnect the battery and try to "reset" the computer?
Should I just take it back to the dealer immediately?
Thanks! Rick
