87 B2200 Valve keepers
Hello, Replacing the valve seals on my 1987 b2200 with the head STILL ON the engine. I did the rope into the cylinder to avoid the valve dropping. I was able to remove the valve keepers with a socket and mallet first try. Put the new seal on the valve stem all good. Now I am having trouble compressing the spring enough to re-install the keepers.
The rope in the cylinder was letting the valve move down slightly so I am now using compressed air in the cylinder to keep the valve up and works real well. I have tried 3 Lisle valve compressors and they compress the springs real well but the space needed to insert the keepers is not there. The 2 keepers need to fit against the valve and slide down into the slot and lock the valve spring to the valve stem. This is the first time I have tried to do this with the head still on the engine. I have worked with lots of engines (with the head off) and never had this issue!
Anybody know about the B2200?
Thanks
Mike
