Default brake pads and rotors

Where can I go in North Jersey to get brake pads and rotors installed on an 04 Mazda 6s that is reliable and reasonably priced.

Thanks!

Ummmm... Out of State? (I'm 'trying' to be funny.)

No, I don't know for sure. I used to live in Pa and work in NJ, but I don't know much about north Jersey... except that Jersey City and Newark live there. Well, on the eastern side at least.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor about it too.

Just do them yourself, they're not that difficult. Is it any similar to the MX-3/Protege type setup? Because if it is then there's an easy how to guide I have about it:

I just tried searching for one for the 6 but only text guides showed up. If you do it, take some pictures to share with us .

The concept is pretty much the same on all cars.

Why do you need new rotors? The pads are the disposable wear parts. Unless your rotors are damaged, then you should only need new pads.

W/the advent of metallic, ceramic and even Kevlar pads vs. the old asbestos ones, rotors wear out faster than they used to. About twice as fast from my very non-scientific survey.

I ended up just bringing the car to a mechanic that a lot of friends in the area trust. So far my car is stopping, so I'll take that as a good sign. Thanks for the advice!

Sticking caliper slides are probably to blame. This is what allows the caliper to slide and wear the pads and rotor evenly. When brakes are applied and released the caliper is not allowed to float causing brakes to squeal or grind. May sound like rocks with cheaper pads due to elevated pad temps.
