Default Check engine light keeps coming on.

Hi everyone,

Whenever my car is inactive for a few hours and I start it the check engine light will come on. After driving for a little bit and the engine is all warmed up the check engine light goes away after a restart. This has been happening for the past 4 days now. I have a 2007 Mazda 3 sport 2.3L automatic with about 88000 km. It runs like new, sounds good and looks good engine wise so there's no noticeable change in performance. Gas cap is in tight so that couldn't be the problem.

Anybody have any idea what's wrong with it? I really don't wanna spend a dime at the local garage unless it's a serious problem.

You wont know what it is until you get a diagnostic computer connected to it.

Yeah I know but I was hoping that someone here has a similar problem and knows a way to fix it instead of going to the dealer and paying them to tell me what's wrong with it.

Evilocity:
Don't go to the dealer, go to a car parts store and they will gladly scan the codes for you, free of charge! Report the codes here.
It could be a vacuum leak or an EGR issue, or just a dirty filter. The codes will help to narrow it down.
