Default Deactivate the Warning Chime

Is there any simple way to deactivate or remove the warning chime? My driver's airbag was causing the light to flash and stay on so I took it out and want to remove the warning completely. It sounds different than the regular door open chime. Is there a way to do this? It beeps 5 sets of 5 chimes each time the truck is started(1998 Mazda B2500).

The five sets of five tones is an audible warning from the air bag module that the air bag warning light has been removed/burnt out and it is warning you of this. The only way you will be able to shut that off is to unplug the air bag module itself. Are you sure it was the air bag that was causing the problem or was it possibly the clockspring that is allowing electrical signals to the drivers air bag?
The chime not being from a door being left open is somewhat of a relief. It was not making any sense your saying that the dome light was on, chime was sounding, and yet the door ajar light was operating normally. Now this makes much more sense. You may have a interior lamp relay that is stuck on. It is located in the underdash relay box as is the battery saver relay. Air bag module should be located just to the outside of passenger footwell area behind the trim panel.

Thanks for the reply. I had two problems. While I was replacing the dash lights I found the air bag light. It had been flashing 2 then 7 times and staying on. I removed the light then got the code like you said. Then I put the light back in, but it must have burned out because it's still out and the chimes go off five times in five sets.

On the seperate note, the dome light is still on. When I put it in gear and move forward it goes offbut when I get out of the car, it comes on when I open the door and stays on . I read that it might shut off after 40 minutes, but I haven't checked that. I mounted a toggle switch to the dome light that I can switch it off with. This is rigged and obviously a poor solution. I'd rather find out why it won't go out. I keep hearing about a second switch inside the door but I can't find any. The one door ajar switch controls the door open chime and the light going on just like it should.

When I first got the truck it would chime in the ACC mode, but since I cleaned that door ajar switch on both sides, it hasn't done that unless the door is actually open. Now the only problems arethe air bag and this dome light.

My current solution to the problem is that I mounted a toggle switch to the black wire going to the dome lights. I can now switch it off, but without opening the door, if I switch it back on then it's still on unless I drive forward etc. Does that rule out a relay? Wouldn't a relay be off if I cut the power to it?

Sorry for the confusing notes, any ideas?

Can I see this battery saver relay by looking under the dash or does the dash have to be taken apart again to find it? Are there any pictures of it to help find it?

Thanks,

Curt
