Engine identification..
Hi,
Hope someone is a specialist in Mazda engines.
I got anew engine for my 626 a few months ago. It came from some scrapped car in Japan, so there wasn't any information about the donor car available. The previous engine was FS-DE 2.0DOHC, but I'm not sure if the new engine is the same since it looks different. Works OK though.
I've started to wonder if the new engine is FS-ZE (170bHP) instead of FS-DE (115bHP) it was supposed to be?
There's a picture of FS-ZE engine.
My new engine looks just like that, but it hasignition coils right above the spark plugs. Even the intake manifold is looking the same, the main reason I started to wonder what the engine actually is.
Here is the picture of the intake manifold I have right now, i assembled the engine with the old intake manifold atm, which looks totally different.

The engine also came with a 4->2 exhaust manifold instead of the 4->1 my exhaust needs
My question is: Can my engine be any variation of FS-DE or is it the FS-ZE? Is there any other Mazda engines or their intake manifolds that look the same?
Thanks in advance.
