Default Engine power problem

Hiya

I have a V registered Mazda 323 Aegean (11 years old-91,000 miles on clock) which has a recurring problem where it keeps kicking back at you and loses power. This happens pretty much at any speed/revs and you have to depress the accelerator to get through it. Its almost as if fuel isnt getting through properly but the car has an inline fuel filter.
Ive changed all plugs and spark leads but no improvement.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Possible fuel pump fault . The filter is built into the pump unit.

I'd have to agree, sounds like fuel pump. She's starving for fuel as you lay into it but once you've backed off it regains itself. Try cleaning or replacing your injector's as well, 90k sounds like they're due.

Changing fuel injectors after only 90,000 miles? Why would you want to do that?

If you read the first part it said to clean the injectors...... 90k miles is 144,000 kms which for alot of vehicles can be be half of there engine life. It was just a suggestion. Good Luck

I'll have to ask again; what does a half engine life have to do with cleaning or replacing fuel injectors? Unless any given car spends a huge percentage of its operating life in a dusty environment, it is almost a sure bet that all of the injectors will outlast the engine and still operate within spec. All that without ever once cleaning or replacing them.
