Default Help mazda 3 Main computer

hi guys, my car stopped working about a couple months ago and for the life of me the car just doesnt want to start. I took the car to the mechanic and they fixed the blocks on the engine how ever now i was told by my mechanic that the main ECU is wasnt working properly so we ordered another ECU and now his computer is requesting for an access codes to allow him to view or reprogram the ECU? is this true if so where would i be able to obtain that information. i spoke to the dealer and they insist that it shouldnt require a pass code.?? HELP I NEED TO FIX THIS CAR...

In respect of true / not true... I think that, in general, “programming” is true. The matter is that immobilizer sends its ID number to ECU and ECU compares ID of immobilized with ID of ECU. It is therefore usually impossible just to change ECU from one car to another as engine will not start. So, in case your “new” ECU is actually second-hand one it most probably does not recognize your “old” immobilizer and some “programming” is needed.

All the mazda cars 2003 and up have to be programmed specific to the vehicle, IE can not be transferred from one car to another. when installing new PCM into car the dealer has to use "as-built" data to transfer all the original specs and vehicle info to the new PCM. Also you have to have 2 keys to program to the new PCM as well
