Mazda Lock and Alarm Defect
Mazda lock and alarm defect - confirmed on Mazda 3 - may affect all Mazda lines with same lock design
Thieves have determined a method of disabling the 2006 Mazda 3 door alarm and to gain entry to vehicle undetected.
There is no known defense against this.
Mazda is aware of problem and hopefully will design it out of future vehicles and offer some method for existing
owners to protect their vehicles and contents.
In the meantime, my advice is to never leave anything of value in the vehilce or trunk, open all consoles and glovebox
when parkng the vehilce and consider leaving it unlocked. Typical damage to vehicle runs $150 minimum to $600 if door needs to be refinished.
Lock design may be common to most of Mazda fleet 3, 6, 5, RX8 etc??
