Mazda Radio code reset
#142
My 2000 mazda mpv radio works, but the cd player does not. I was going to attempt to reset the code, but there is no way to enter numbers. I tried using the presets to enter 1414, but it didn't seem to do anything. Will a reset make the cd player work?

Even if you could, which you can't, resetting the "security" code would not make your CD player work again.
The "code" is to make is less attractive for thieves to steal your OE radio/stereo. It renders the unit useless in the event that the radio is stolen.
If part of the system works, as you state it does, it's a mechanical or electrical problem w/the unit itself, or needing to be reset. Replace the head unit, or have it repaired. Those are your only options.

I went through all of these forums and found that if you use scan then am/fm then auto m and then seekff it will clear the Err message and allow you to put in a new code. I used the code that someone who has a Mazda 6 used. I have a 323 protege and it worked that code was 3211. And finally my radio is working again. I'm from Australia and alot of the other codes wouldn't work but this was good.

Mazda6 Radio Reset
Thanks to all for this, had a flat battery today and did not have previous owners code. entered 3 wrong codes followed by the sequence suggested and it worked.
Mazda should be ashamed that they tell you that you need to purchase a new radio. I was fretting over the possible cost this may be today.
My Car is a 6 TS2 07 reg.
Thanks agian you saved me a lot of hassel.

Mazda 5 NL radio reset after ERR is displayed
Hi, great topic
Had the same problem, battery dead, replaced it and radio came up with blinking CODE message....sigh
As i didn't know the code (the dealer had obviously set this when i bought the car new and forget to mention it to me.....or leave a reference to the set code somewhere in the car docs...i found a number written on a piece of tape stuck to the manual, thinking this must be it but it wasn't and after 3 tries got the famous ERR code) and the dealer was going to charge me an arm and a leg to reset the code.... searched and came to this topic.
Tried the following sequence:
preset 6
AM
AUTO-M
SEEK UP
after this the lines came up allowing me to enter the code, after some tries found that 3511 worked, great
Thanks everyone fr this info
Cheers,

Great thread.
I have a 53 RX-8 with the 'Err' display but I am pleased so say that I've just made the elusive word 'GOOD' appear in its place.
The magic number for me was also 3511
Fingers crossed that my car still starts in the morning!

I had removed my battery for charging and when I replaced it I got the dreaded "CODE" massage on the display. I referred to my handbook which gives the procedure for resetting but neglects to tell you that if you enter the wrong code 3 times the radio won't work at all until the VERY END OF THE SECTION! How stupid is that? They should tell you BEFORE you commence the procedure. But thanks to you I have been able to recover the situation.
