Mazda Radio code reset

MX5 'err' code fix ..
I have a 2006 1.8 MX5 which required a replacement battery..
When replaced, the audio unit did of course start flashing to enter the code.. I did not have it so I called Mazda UK.
They in turn called my local dealer where the car was purchased and they said they would reset the unit for about 1 hours labour charge ! Not happening !!
They would not give the factory reset code to me so I called another Glasgow Dealer and they advised I should try '3511' .... Success ....
The two other popular codes (which did not work on my year of car) were
1414 and 4989..
Hope this helps

Static alternates with clear sound from rr speaker, 2003 Protege
Thanks hobbs222. Glad you had success. I am so happy to have a reply.
Am still in the dark, though.
Is a reset of the radio a solution for static in right rear speaker only when CD is playing? And for moments speaker plays recording clearly, too.
Bought 2003 Protege second hand. Radio plays through front speakers only and sounds fine.
Is rr speaker blown or wire bad? Any way to tell?
I have no experience nor knowhow, as you can see.
Basic guidance is needed here. Thanks so much.
Thanks to all forum participants : )

Hi Folks, I'm trying to sort out my wife's 53 plate 323 after a battery change. I've tried 3 numbers from this thread until I got the err message.
After that I tried Blue SP20's preset6, AM, Auto M, Seek (up). This got me back to the enter code screen as promised but the code 4989 didn't work and I got the same err message after pressing AutoM and 6 together.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I have recently had a new battery fitted to my 2002 Mazda 323 and had the message code on my radio. I do not know the original code.
I have tried to reset following the manufacturers instructions but using 4989 but now instead of code I have the err message and can't get rid of it.
Any suggestions?

try this worked on my mazda bt50
1) After you see ERR on the screen, turn the ignition off and back to ACC
2) Press each of these buttons one at a time: preset 6, AM, Auto M, Seek ^ (up).
3) Input this number: 4989.or 1414
4) Press and hold Auto M and Preset 6 together.
5) The word 'GOOD' will appear on the screen indicated that the radio will work.
6) Turn the ignition off and then back to ACC
7) Reprogram new antitheft code into radio as per instruction manual.
Easy when you know how!
hope this helps

Mazda 6 TS2 2.0l petrol 2005 UK.
Signed up just to say thankyou.
Usual thing, changed battery, didnt have code and so got to the Err. Came on to this forum and tried the methods here but had no luck. My stereo is the in dash 6 CD changer unit by the way, took it to a car stereo shop, couldnt do it. So its Christmas Eve and as the song says I will be "driving home for Xmas" with no music.
Went back through all the threads and jotted down all the bits of info.
So what worked for me,
6, AM, Auto-M, Seek - 4989 - hold Auto-M down and then press and hold 6
Now that is like getting a Xmas pressie, thanks to yu all that share.
