In the unit installed in my MX5 NB once you get the 4 bars, you insert the first number e.g. 4 by pressing 1(DISC) three times. The enter second number e.g 9 by pressing 2(RDM) nine times. Then 3(RPT) eight times and lastly 4(x) nine times. Pages 4-43 to 4-48 in my manual.

I have just acquired a MAZDA 2 Capella 1.4petrol semi auto reg 2005 but manufactured 2004.

I followed all the steps above as described by Blue as I had the 'ERR' displayed after battery had been disconnected at some point.

Code 4989 worked after a couple of attempts and switching ignition from ACC to OFF in between the attempts to enter code.

Just brilliant! And thanks again for the information!

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. I have recently bought a second hand Mazda Demio (Japanese import). It has an Eclipse C9TB double din radio which is linked to a reverse camera and steering wheel controls. After I bought it I had an alarm fitted and the guy had to disconnect the battery to do that. Now the radio wont work as it's missing an SD card. I brought it back to the dealer where I bought it and they have tried to unlock the radio using other SD cards but this hasnt worked. Does anyone have any advice on how I can get this resolved? I thought about getting a new radio installed but a European one won't fit. Really I would love to get an SD card as the radio is working perfectly otherwise.. but I have no idea where I can get one as it seems to need the specific one it originally came with! Appreciate if anyone can offer any advice!! Thanks

Many thanks to the OP in posting the information I'm sure their will be many that will need this information to get their radio working, I'm going post my experience I've had and hope this will also give others you have a similar one the confidence to play around to get the system up and working.
Firstly trusting anyone on forum could have you doing things that your not meant to do, so why not go to a dealer and get it sorted, this is what happened to me.
I've not been using my car for a bit, bought last may 2018 mk 3 56 plate, loved it while the warm days was here top down every day even if was cloudy, I've had health issues that meant I wasn't going out as much and didn't need to use it as its our second car so it suffered a flat battery, having taken it to my local supplier he then told me it was a bog standard cheapest version and wasn't strong enough so I changed it. No problems with the radio tuned in straight away no hassle. Well I was busy fitting a new shower and tiling for a good 4 weeks and the weather had changed that the battery was down to 6 amp not even enough to turn it over. I told a fib to the supplier and said it might of been a week or to be he kindly charged it up for me to make sure it was on top charge at no cost as well, I've always bought my batteries from there Valley batteries at Dewsbury, so I connected up and low and behold no problems with the radio, easy yeah.
Now the problems
The weather has turned for the worse and heavy rain and condensation is a problem now, when I entered the car it was dripping so I wiped it down and start her up, no problems so I decided to take her for a ride and do some shopping, when I tried to park up with the ignition off the radio wouldn't shut off, it looks as the condensation was playing a part of flattening the battery hence the problem.
I started to press a few buttons and it turned off asking for a code, I didn't have one and took guesses to might of been within my info I had then it locked.
In desperation I phoned VCT 600 Mazda dealer in Wakefield for assistance they was lovely told me I could fetch it in and will only take half hour work £51 I knew of this forum and had read about how easy it is to rectify mortified to here how the could even charge, this rip off Britain, find away closing all doors of assistance and only open them when it costs you, sickening.
So having read most of the posts on here I thought why not have a go, radio doesn't work what have a got to lose so went in to try and remove the err code, I pressed button after button as described on here and none seem to work until I pressed the tuner button and kept it pressed in for same time as the Auto M and low behold it started playing great I thought, but this wasn't working as it should do, tuning button became the on/off and volume and the on/off volume became the tuner, added to this the CD had stop working totally and got my loved ones favorite Killers cd stuck in there not letting it reject, needless to say she was telling me I'm getting another one for her.
So we had radio at least and I'm making sure my car is started every other day to make sure condensation doesn't build up again like last time, then I thought why not take off the terminal and try again worse case is I'll be in the same situation, well after making sure I had written every possible scenario to get it back to factory I disconnected the battery and then connected it again.
It was a bit like preparing surgery having everything to hand I turned on the radio but from where you should turn it on for everything to work as normal, I checked the cd it worked, rejected cd ok, tuned in all stations I needed, set clock, back to normal . No code was require at all for me
So I would say have faith in the forums as I haven't come across anything but help, trust in your own ability even if you make a **** of it like I did in the first place LOL

hope you all find a solution to your problems

Snowie

Hi all,

Same problem as everybody else & help needed please? I've just had to replace my battery on my Mazda 2 Ts2 2007 & after failing to find the right code have the err flashing. I've read through the thread & nothing seems to work unless I'm doing it wrong? I've phoned the dealer & they say they're not even sure, however are happy to charge me £57 for the privilege of re-coding my key which also doesn't work now!!!!

I'm a bit of a luddite but if someone could please be kind enough to offer any advice & help to get the stereo working again, it will be massively appreciated.

Many thanks in advance
