Mazda6 05 automatic shifting problem
Hello All,
I'm having a problem with my Mazda 6 GT 2005 model auto transmission. The problem has occurred twice now, I'm not sure what it is, I plan on going to the dealer for their advice shortly. I have looked through the forums and have not found anything similar.
My problem is that when I've been driving on the highway, using cruise control (not sure if the cruise has anything to do with it) the gas pedal losses all sensitivity. The car is either giving power or coasting.. causing a slight jerk in the car every 15 seconds to maintain the speed... when I noticed this I pulled over. as I was pulling over I realized that the car wasn't leaving fourth gear.. even when applying the brake and getting to a slow speed. Therefore, I put the shifter in manual mode and shifted down until I was completely stopped in first gear. However, the car was still getting gas every second or so as if I was pressing the pedal half way down every other second.. the rpms were going up... if I didn't have the break on the car would be jerking... so I shifted to neutral and the car was still getting gas... revving up to 3500 every other second. I turned the car off and the problem was gone... Later I realized it was back again in a 50 km zone.. as I was decellerating from coasting into a city... the car was not decreasing in speed but maintaining a 55km/h speed.. not downshifting. The only way to slow down was to use the shift tronic and manual shift the gears down... it was very dangerous at stop lights.. because the car was still getting power while stopped!
Shifting up is not a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated?.. or any other questions?.. the car has about 110,000 kms, has run perfectly fine for 5 months since I've owned it, no problems fluids are all good.
Thanks
