overheating 2001 mazda 626
[&:]
Hey guys or gals,
Happy new year. I am new here, but i need some advise. I recently purchased a 2001 mazda 626 sedan. It drives fine, however, the engine soon began to smoke and/or begins to overheat. One mechanic changed the cooliant, but it smoke still comes out of the car when I drive it for approximately 10 - 15 minutes...any suggestions?...
thanks.

Where is the smoke coming from, the engine compartment or the tailpipe? What is the temp gauge reading when this happens? It might be overheating or an oil/coolant leak, hard to say with the limited info.

thanks for the reply..
its coming from the engine compartment; also, the temperature guage is at half most of the time.. also i had a mechanic check and replace any broken tubes that cooliant uses in the car....

Normal range for the temperature gauge should be right in the middle when fully warmed up. If you are overheating it will be up in the top 3/4 area.
Smoke from engine sounds like it might be from an oil leak onto your exhaust system. After driving for 10 minutes, the exhaust pipes around the engine will be close to 500'F and any oil leaks dripping onto them would instantly create smoke.
