Power Loss ~ No Throttle Responce New CX-5
2014 CX-5
Brand New ~ 650 Miles
While driving at 70mph on Mass Pike, I experienced an odd issue with this new CX-5.
There was a sudden power loss. Not sure if Ignition or Fuel Supply related.
Strongly suspect Ignition.
I suddenly experienced a loss of power. Giving the plant more Throttle seemed to aggravate the situation.
When Power was restored by closing Throttle, ... the Plant raced to 4500rpm's with the Trans-axle acting as if in Neutral.
This issue self-resolved but repeated four or five times during the drive.
I was using the Cruise Control when the problem initiated but cancelled the Cruise to attempt restoring normal function.
Transitioning to Manual Shifting during the episodes had no effect in restoring power to the Trans-axle.
Any advice from Forum members regarding troubleshooting or suspected causes will be greatly appreciated.

I am a first time poster, I found this forum while searching in relation to this issue.
Last night I was on my way home. Travelling at 50km/h I accelerated quickly to approximately 75km/h to pass a slow moving vehicle. We travelled 2-3 km before stopping at a stop sign. When I tried to accelerate I was limited to approximately 2000 rpm with a SLOW acceleration rate. Even under full throttle (foot to the floor) the engine would not produce any torque. The transmission seemed to disengage for a second allowing the rpm to surge to 3500 then quickly drop again with a 2k restriction. At best on a flat surface I my CX5 would manage 60km/h. When I brought it to the dealer this morning I was told they could not diagnose an issue unless the vehicle had displayed a warning light (it had not).
Once pulled over I shut off the vehicle and started it again, this seemed to resolve the problem (but for how long?)
Any insight to the source of this problem is appreciated.

It is booked in for Wednesday morning, I will update when I have an answer from them.

Power loss in 2014 CX-5
I had this happen at 2000 miles. It was a coil that was failing under heavy load. The dealer identified it when it finally threw a code, and then they replaced the coil (#1, I think), and all was well. It seems like the coil is right at each plug.
Hope this helps

Brought new CX5 to dealership.
After discussing the issue with the Service Manager we went for a Test Drive with him at the wheel.
During the Test Drive I told him that the issue seemed to be limited to when I was driving.
That's when he started asking about how I drive, ... if I was a one or two feet driver.
Two feet drivers rest their feet on the brake pedal. I told him I never ride the brake.
Then, ... he looked at my EEE wide shoes.
Following the Toyota run-away mishaps and legal actions, ... Mazda programmed a Fail Safe for "Throttle-by-wire" vehicles.
Above 2,000 rpm's, ... if the Brake Pedal is touched ... the software kills the Engine.
The Throttle is closed automatically.
The system is designed to be "Brake Priority".
If BOTH the Brake and Gas Pedal are touched simultaneously, the Engine is shut-down and the car automatically slowed-down.
Conscious of the situation, ... I drove all afternoon without any problems.
We noted the issue on the Service Record should the problem resurface.
A joyous Holiday and New Year to all,

Check LIM - speed limiter - isn’t on (dashboard)
Check you haven’t bumped the speed limiter LIM on the steering wheel. I’ve done this and lost power. Hope it helps. It will say on your dash a speed 30kmh and LIM.
