dpf removal (without an ECU remap)
Hi, i recently bought a 08 mazda3 1.6d takara and within 6 weeks the dpf was was totally blocked and the car pretty much shut down (cut out after 1500rpm) and the 2 pipes with pressure sensors blew.
So, my mechanic removed the dpf honeycomb with hammer and chisel, put the dpf back on and now everything seems to be ok and no EM light etc WITHOUT A REMAP. However, i fully expected that the car would go into limp mode and EM light would come on straight away but it hasn't...yet!!
So, i fully expected that i'd need a remap and have budgeted for this, but, just wanted to know is the remap actually essential after a dpf removal (and if so or not why) for the car's health and longevity??
All feedback, opinions and info would be much appreciated
Richard
