Default 1990 929s sluggish

Folks, I need some help. I have a 1990 929s with low power. This is my 3rd 929s and I know what the power could/should feel like. It just doesn't "snap" like the others. If you floor it, it will take off, but it really should jump without that. I don't notice much/any smoke. In addition, it also has some trouble starting when cold but not hot. It is beginning to act up when hot, though. Finally, the engine light comes on quite often although the exhaust and O2 sensors are not factory. This vehicle is "new to me" and I am not sure when the problem started and if it was before the O2 sensors. I have swapped out the mass air flow sensor with no improvement. Spark plug cables and plugs appear near new. I have replaced the distributor cap and rotor, too. I think the air cleaner is Ok. I have NOT replaced the fuel filter yet. Previous owner replaced the timing belt. Car has 120,000 miles. I am concerned about timing, but am not sure what behavior to expect if the belt was installed wrong. This trial and error approach is getting expensive! Ideas from the group? Are there common problems with fuel filters or injectors?
