CEL Check Engine Light 1992 Mazda 626
9-09-10 was my original post, no response here it is 10-23-10. What I have found, I have a code reader for my car. It is my car. There is a Green 1-Pin Test connector located near the upper strut under the hood of the drivers side. You (With ignition off) connect this green connector to Ground. Turn ignition on and watch as check engine light turns off then magic. The Check Engine Light (CEL) will start to tell you why it is on. In my case it simply flashed on (Long) one time, then two (Short) flashes. It is trying to tell me 12. 12 means Throttle Sensor. I then Trouble shoot my (TPS) throttle position sensor. The TPS has three wires one black (12 volt negative), one red (5 volt reference voltage), and one White a signal voltage that the TPS changes incrementally from 1 to 5 volts. My TPS has 12 volt negative, 5 volt positive but absolutely no incremental change(White wire). MY TPS IS DEFECTIVE. This is my analysis at 10:09 PM on a Saturday night. I will give update as I figure my car problems out. Of great help was http://autorepair.about.com/library/...l-dtcs-44a.htm. Good luck and I hope to report success in my endeavors in the near future.

Replace TPS Check Engine Light (CEL) off
11-05-10 went to wrecking yard and bought used Throttle Position Sensor. This is a little risky since there is no way to check if it is working at the wrecking yard. I took my chances and it ended up working out. I unplugged my old TPS and plugged in the new one, checked voltage +5 Volt red, and white varried up to 4 volts, installed used part. When I started the car I had achieved success no CEL.
