Default Is a 1996 Mazda 626 With 155K Miles Worth $1,800?

Hi everyone,

I just found this forum through Google while doing research on the Mazda 626 and would like to ask your advice. I need a new car and have found a 1996 Mazda 626 with 155k miles for $1,800. According to the owner, the only problem is that it needs a new throttle position sensor, which the owner says he is going to replace today before selling it.

Do you think this car is worth it? How long does the average 626 last?

Thanks for your advice!

In The 80s and 90s Mazda built great cars. I myself have a 86 323 it has close to 190000 miles on it, still runs fine. So, I would say yes, it's worth it.

Hi everyone, I know its an old thread but I thought I could share.

I bought a Mazda 5 2008 used. I'm the 3rd or 4th owner. The car started its life as a 24 months lease from the dealer.

When I bought it, it was at 86 000KM with a hitch. The clutch pedal was high, knowing it means a worn clutch (I also tried 2 other mazda 5 2008 from kijiji) but was not surprised because of the hitch.

Anyway, las winter the clutch master cylinder leaked. Had a bad time replacing it in the driveway. Clutch slipped a lot before I figured what part to change.
Now it's almost 150 000KM and the clutch is gone. Got an appointment for next monday, 850$+tx (CAD) and they may suggest a new clutch fork called "upgrade kit from mazda" for 90$ depending on what they see.

My last car was a brand new Mazda Protégé 2002. I sent it to the dump in 2014 at 160 000KM and the clutch was like new even tho I towed several times.
