Question 2002 626 intermittent electrical power loss

I have an intermittent starting problem. I can turn the key into the on position and things are normal, bells and whistles and such. When I turn to the start position it loses electrical power, clock, radio, lights etc. Turn it off and cycle through again, and the same thing. I jumped it and it started right up. then I had the battery/alternator tested and it is believed to be ok. I drove home and cycled on and off about 4 times and repeated the problem. I left the key in the on position for a minute or two and then all the bells and whistles returned like normal, even starting. Cycled a couple times again, and of course repeated the problem of no electrical power. This is my itermittent issue. Any ideas?

Since you only had the two tested, I would actually replace the battery and alternator. Those would be the obvious. If that doesn't fix it then move onto fuses or make sure your ground wires are still entact.
