89 323 Electrical Help...
Hi
New to this fourm, so bare with me - have an 323 that keeps blowing the blower motor circuit breaker every time thea/c button is pushed - the blower motor works on all speeds perfectly - when you activate the a/c with button depressed, the compressor kicks on the idle increases and the circut breaker trips, killing the blower - one thing is that the coolant fan runs continously w/ the ignition on - trying to follow the the wiring diagram in the chilton manual is not the greatest... but with the thermo switch disconnected, the fan still runs - every thing that I check seems to be ok - I suspect the cooling fan relay - I am trying to wire in a relay to check, I am not understanding why there is 2 constant 12v power to the relay, 1 ground, 1 to the thermo switch - and am unable to figure this out... maybe i'm just brain farting or trying to over think this - has anybody ever run accross this? any mazda techs? common prob? any suggestions would be appreciated thanks....

RE: 89 323 Electrical Help...
I would pull the breaker and put an amp meter across the fuse/terminal and see if its drawing excessive amps. Disconnecting the fan motor then the compressor clutch etcand checking again will tell you if its the fan motor. Normally if a fan motor starts drawing excessive amperage it will blow the blower resistor. The fan switch itself has the terminals soldered on and occasionally the solder will melt and short to another terminal. Could be a bad breaker too. You can take it apart to check it.

Thanks Hixx for the response - I will put a meter across the terminal to see what the amperage is - you have put another thought in my head - I have been looking to find short, or a shorted relay of some sorts - I kept trying to prove it somehow and getting nowhere... you mentioned the fan may be shorted and drawing to many amps - or even the circuit breaker is weak - and I have taken the blower switch apart and cleaned all the terminal and it works perfectly... thanks for the help - I will ck this out sometime over the weekend
