'91 626 Hard Starting When Cold
I recently purchased a '91 Mazda 626 255k miles 2.2l. In the morning it is very hard to start. I have installed new plugs, fuel filter and air filter. I have also sealed up the air tube from the air filter/air meter to the intake (learned from years of driving another '91 626). I have about 35psi fuel pressure at idle, pressure goes to 42 when throttle is opened. Once I get it started it runs excellent and once warmed up it restarts well. I have installed a new temp sensor (the two wire sensor by the thermostat housing, I think this is the right one) and swapped out the distributor with the one from my daily driver with no change in problem.
I'm running out of ideas. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Todd

plug it in.
I have a 90' 626 and I find that it REALLY doesnt like being cold.. if yours has a block heater. make sure you plug it in. This makes a huge difference for me. If it doesn't have a block heater, the cheapest alternative is to buy an oil pan heating pad. My dad put one on his jetta, same principle as the block heater but it heats from the oil pan. They are also very easy to install... Hope this helped you.
