Default 929 parts - 2

I own an imported 1989 Mazda 929, 2.0L, 4-cyl, RHD. I am British but live in Malaysia and over here such cars are extremely rare. No Mazda dealer is prepared to even try to get parts (in fact they just laugh at me!) and I can't understand Japanese so can't even navigate the Mazda.jp site for help.
I am not in a position to change the car yet and in any case I really like it.
The main problems are these:
1) Wheel alignment is way out and cannot be corrected due to worn suspension parts. Can I replace with non standard items?
2) Passenger external door handle broken and can't be operated from outside.
3) Engine is a smaller than standard unit (1.9L) to get under the tax laws, so is underpowered.
4) Various controls inside do not function (mostly to do with A/c and fan)
5) The whole thing moans and creaks like an old ship (probably due to knackered suspension)
I have been told by one garage that they could obtain a ¨half-cut¨ which includes engine, suspension, etc. But is this legal?
Car mechanics here who actually know about cars are proving impossible to find. It is very definitely a botch it and see kind of culture!
As you will probabaly have guessed by now, I am not very knowledgable about the workings of cars but I know what I like! Any help and advice to keep this old beast running would be most appreciated. Cheers!
