I had this problem 2 years ago and find that by cleaning the mass air flow sensor, the chech engine light ( that went On when I was accelerating too much ) just stop to do the problem.
When it happenned again last summer, I just unmount the mass air flow sensor again, and clean it again ( with caburator cleaner in spray ).
It's important though not to touch to the little piece of the mass air flow sensor with your hand or anything else. Just spray a couple of time with the cleaner and remount the whole thing.
It could fix your problem like it does to me
