Car inoperable after timing belt repair and 90k service
My car became totally inoperable after the repair shop changed the timing belt and performed the 90k service (including transmission flush). The car vibrated pretty badly at idle on day 1 we drove it. RPM jumped by itself at idle. Took the car back three times, and the issue was not fixed. After the third time, the shop told us that the transmission was dead.
Our car was in great driving condition before the service. Now the transmission was dead and the car also has another 2 engine codes. We were very upset. What the shop did could have caused the transmission to fail? Your advice is highlyh appreciated.

RE: Car inoperable after timing belt repair and 90k service
I'm sorry to hearabout your trouble. No,performing a 90k should not make a perfectly good running car inoperable. Sounds like a clear case ofmechanical malpractice.
Get a lawyer, and have all repair and service records handy.

Thanks for the advice. We did consult a lawyer. He said we need to come up with evidence proving what the shop did or should have done caused the transmission failure and other issues. Otherwise it is a weak case since all the evidence is circumstantial. So what the shop did or failed to do could cause the problem.

My guess, based on the information in your OP, is yes. They screwed up something all right.
But again, I base that opinion on what you've told us.
