Default driverside back door will not close

My daughter's 1989 Mazda 929 driver side back door won't close. She says there are prongs that won't work? Would this be electrical? Any thoughts? Thank you for helping me with the headlight issue.

odds are that this will be an issue with the striker on the door. check the mechanism that usually holds the door closed and see what kind of action you can get out of it. see if it is loose, see if it moves with firm pressure, etc.

Sometimes the lock cam flips closed.

To flip it back, pull on the door handle with the door unlocked. With the handle pulled, rotate the lock cam into open position. (this is the part that actually rotates and engages the door striker to hold it closed.)
