Help! Broken Tranny on 2001 626
#11
Yes, this could be part of the overall log, which could provide you a history of what has come to this point. However, this message does not seem to make sense since nobody would fuzz around the gears inside a transmission. Since reading the ECU message is free at Autozone. I would at least have a second opinion from them especially they are independent from a dealer who is ready to make money on servicing your car. Most of the time, tranny starts having problem when fluid is low or some channels are clogged. If you have not service it for the past 30 to 50k miles, I would suggest that you have it flushed and refilled with new fluid, with the tranny conditioner that I mentioned earlier:

This could be done by local trustful service shop or places like PebBoys (http://www.pepboys.com/?gclid=CPXw-N...FVw55QodM1gmSw) to help clean up clogged channels, stops small leaks, and helps some of the loosed gears engagements. I did all of these in two attempts and it is now running good. I just pay more attention to fluid level to make sure that it does not run low. Good luck!
