holding light blinking
I'm a new member, hope I am doing this right!
My daughter's '89 Mazda 929 Sedan has twice now had the hold light blinking. Both times were marked by sudden acceleration (getting on fast highway). Otherwise, the shifting (this is an automatic) is smooth. She is just finishing up this college semester and will be coming home May 31st. She is in Reno and home is 200 miles south in Bishop, CA, so there will be some climbing up Conway Summit for instance. Is this something that can wait for her to get home?
Thank you

RE: holding light blinking
Well, yes and no. You've come to the right place for answers, Alice, but I will have to move this thread to the correct location.
Second, welcomealiceearth!!
Third, I am not the expert on 929's or the Millenia models but I am not sure what the "hold light" is.
I'm guessing that since the car was under some hard acceleration by your own admission, that it might be a light indicating that the (automatic) transmission is holding a lower gear longer for greater power to accommodate the request put forth by the driver's right foot.
If my guess is correct, then there is no problem w/the car, it's just an unnecessarybell/whistle because it was the upscale car in it's time.
Do you have an owner/operators manual for the car? Perhapsthe definitive answer is in there.
