Home made short ram/CAI
Here is what I came up with from parts I found at the local Auto Zone. I got rid of everything in front of the Mass Air Sensor I found an adapter that matched the bolt holes on the MAS and of course the cone filter fits on it. So I only bought 2 pieces I could of replaced everything. They have a kit you can use that has fittings and drill bits for your vacuum lines and sensors plus 90-60-45 degree elbows and some straight pieces, but I did not see the point.
The only real work involved was fitting the sensor on top of the adapter (there was already a hole) I removed the rubber grommet and plug that came with it and the stock sensor fit in. I then secured it with the brass threads that held it in the stock air box.
The next step was to drill a hole in the stock tube to fit the vacuum line in I used a 3/8 inch bit and cut the tabs with a razor and of course cut the hard plastic vacuum tube to fit the new spot it is connected with the stock rubber fittings.
This cost me about 40 dollars, but I can hear the differance and time will tell if the power and gas mileage is better, if not it looks better.
Be careful to not get any loose filings or pieces in the TB they will make it to the inside of your engine and may do bad things.

I once had a 323 that cost me nothing to get a bit more power out of. All I did was to remove the lower part of the facory airbox to gain access and cut the bottom out of it with a dremel tool. It helped with less restriction and added help to the top end of the RPM range. When completed it did not look modified from a top view.

very good modification.... did you trip a CEL when you did this procedure? always is nice to get a little better fuel economy as well as some more torque/hp (if done correctly!). how long have you had this modification on your vehicle and how is everything going with it?

I just did it yesterday 15may and I'll post something later to see what differance it has made if any. I,m getting 23.5 MPG now we'll see what happens. There shouldnt be any codes from this since everything is back relativly where it should be, but you never know.
