Default Idle issue 91' 929

Anyone know where the Idle Air Control Valve is on a 1991 929 3.0 V6. I need to get this cleaned out as I checked other postings and people say that cleaning this usually solves alot of idle problems. Any help would be great. I just replaced new timing belt water pump and new spark plugs!

Thanks
Beecho

SOHC or DOHC? SOHC it is on the driver's side valve cover. Two biggish hoses going into the rubber air tube going to the throttle body. It has water connections too so keep that in mind. Check it electrically too. Note, I have an 89 SOHC I think the 91 SOHC is similar. DOHC is probably pretty much the same too. I'm fighting an erraticcold idle situation on my car now. Good Luck.

thanks for the replies, I will try to attempt taking it off and cleaning. If i pull the coolant hoses of will it leak alot and will it cause any type of air pockets in the cooling system which could make it overheat?

Leak won't be much, have a couple of pencils handy to plug the hoses. I wouldn't worry about air bubbles as this is pretty high up on the motor. I never had any issues with mine. Blow through where the coolant flows, should be no real resistance. The two big air things should pass air. This is all a guess, but I think it you were to be able to pass a stream of hot water through the coolant lines, at some point the two big air pipes should stop passing air. Water would need to be at 180 degrees or so and probably for a while as the thing works like a thermostat, melting wax thing. The electrical connector is for the Idle Control valve. Measure the resistance there, 10.8 to 12.3 ohms per my 1989 manual. You can buy these on ebay for about 50 bucks or www.car-parts.com (I'd go with them). Part's about $500 from the dealer. Check your static ignition timing too.
Good luck and have fun!
