New Guy Needs Stereo Help for 1994 929
Hi.After trying to buy a car to replace the old 929 (and failing to be able to let it go), I looked for help forums and found you guys.I love the car but can find relatively little information to help me work on it. Right now, I am getting ready to upgrade the stereo. It has that cassette/radio unit, two (6x9?) rear deck speakers, two (5x8?) front door speakers, and two tweeters sitting in the dash. I don't know if there is an amp separate from the head unit, but I would expect so because there appears to be adequate power for decent sound.
I would like to add a good stereo, but understand that the wiring harnesses, etc, are different for the models that have the separate amp. If my car has the separate amp, where is it? How do I know? Also, when buying an install kit, would the kit give me the option of covering up the storage area underneath the existing head unit? Is that storage area where the stock cd changer would go if I had one? Thanks for any help!!! I'll pay it back when I can!

yes they have covers to cover up the storage area. I dont think that there is a amp in that car, your headunit already has a mini amp in there to power the speakers. A cd changer usually goes in the back of your car(trunk). For subs you would need a new amp.
